This is the sight that met my eyes yesterday as I approached the entrance to the Rock walks - a seasonal reminder of a lost youth,a remembered youth,a time of winter senses - Christmas.
What a day!As soon as I entered the woodland and began my walk down to the river I saw a flurry of rich red on four feet haring away from me - a young Fox in full winter colour.Next followed a clatter of wings when up to a score of Wood-pigeons rose from the floor of the Spruce wood and took to the skies briefly before alighting again on the high ground above the river.A grey Squirrel followed as it quarried it's way through mounds of leaves in it's search for food. Then a raucous interlude as a pair of Jays blasted the silence. And so it went.Yesterdays Blog attempted to convey a sense of the richness of Fungi appearing at this time of year.
